JROTC
Motivating Kahuku’s Youth
The Kahuku JROTC Battalion is having a very successful year and we intend to bring our very best to all of our supporters.
Our Drill Team has already kicked off the new school year on a positive note with the Air force Drill Meet. Our Drill Team is fully prepared for the upcoming year and they are focused on bringing home the gold.
Kahuku’s Color Guard Team performs at many of our football games and school functions and puts in many hours into making sure they carry our colors with respect and honor.
The Ranger Team is hoping to have another successful year and they are getting ready for more hardcore challenges and activities. Last year our Ranger Team brought us back some mighty fine trophies so were are hoping for more.
Kahuku JROTC is fully prepared to tackle another year and represent our fine school in everything we do. Junior ROTC is an excellent way to take those skills learned in the classroom and implement them in real life situations. We have many activities in which we excel at our leadership skills and learn to get out of our comfort zones to complete a specific task. Kahuku’s own Army JROTC is Motivating Young People to be Better Citizens.

Rumors & Reality
Rumor: 1SG Brandt is a mean drill sergeant who makes us do push-ups the entire class period.
Reality: In actuality, 1SG is just a teacher like all the others at school. In fact many of the cadets agree that he is the nicest teacher in school, along with 1SG Glover. They only look tough.
Rumor: JROTC is hard because they make you go outside to run and do push-ups all day, and that’s all you ever do.
Reality: Actually the only time we go outside and run and do push-ups is when we have a physical fitness test. We have one test every month which consists of curl-ups, pull-ups, shuttle run, v-sit reach, and a one mile run.
Rumor: They make you wear a uniform everyday.
Reality: You only have to wear the uniform once a week, and it’s optional to wear all day (unless you are a leader).
Rumor: If you join Junior ROTC you have to join the military after high school.
Reality: You have no obligation to join the military after high school.
Special Teams (All Voluntary)
Adventure Training Team (Rangers):
-These cadets are highly motivated and compete in various physical and technical events throughout the school year.

Color Guard:
- This team is the most visible symbol of our battalion and school. These cadets present the American flag, Hawaiian flag, and our battalion flag at football games and other special events around the island.
Honor Guard:
-This team performs twice a year at the annual homecoming football game and also for the annual formal inspection of our red raider battalion.
