12th Grade - Senior Year College Planning Calendar
Finish gathering information on schools, select four to six you like best, and apply for admission. Retake the SAT and ACT if you aren’t satisfied with your first results.
Apply for financial aid by filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Consider all of your options for paying for school. Find out about scholarships and grants before taking out a student loan.
- Try to get a 4.0 GPA as best as you can. Ask for a tutor or your counselor if you need help.Take SAT and/or ACT exams either at BYUH or at Leilehua High School in Wahiawa.
- Perform at least 40 hours of service at KHIS or in Koolaulau Communities. (repairs, beach cleanups, hospital visits,
- Tutor other students for at least 40 hours at KHIS or in neighboring schools.
- Fill a leadership position.
- Compete in academic competitions on a school, district, state, national and international levels.
- Compete in atheletic programs or be involved with the school band.
- Find at least 4 adult mentors that can help you with your career choice, colleges, extra-curricular activities.
Concentrate on the following items as you complete your last year in high school:
